"Adot (에이닷) Chrome extension: AI Search Results on Naver, Google, Daum, Nate

Korea's own AI model made by SK, known as Adot (에이닷, pronounced "ey dot"), has a Chrome extension that will automatically add AI responses to your search results on Naver, Google, Daum, and Nate searches. It's similar to Google's AI-generated responses, but works for all of these search engines and also provides answers from various AI models, including Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and of course Adot's own AI model, A.X.

Here's a quick rundown.

Adot AI Summary extension on Chrome Web Store

Install it from the Chrome Store here:

Then do a search on Naver for example, maybe for your favorite blog that provides cheap tips about Korea:

Well, I'm not sure it's actually using any contextual data from the search results page. Instead it seems to just be querying these models with the search term and spitting back whatever it already assumes. This answer from Claude was somewhat alright, but it seems to think I literally sell tips about Korea for 10won apiece. Not that useful. Let's change the model.

Well, you'd assume their flagship A.X. model would do better, but here it just assumes I am looking for exercise tips. Maybe it saw the 10, the word tips, and figured I'm searching for tips to lose 10 pounds.

At least ChatGPT doesn't try to make up stuff it doesn't know.

Perplexity comes through with the most reliable and accurate answer. The description seems pretty clearly a translation of the actual description on this blog so I wonder if Perplexity has crawled this and translated the response on the fly for this. Neat.

Just to verify, I asked about 10wontips from A.X. directly on the Adot site. Once again it seemed to presume I was looking for tips but this time cooking tips.

A.X. seems capable of providing simple summaries of stuff it knows well already, like who Lee Myungbak was.

And it can summarize famous stuff in English, like the Sputnik satellite.

Overall, I'm not sure this is particularly useful. I guess if you have no clue about a certain topic whatsoever, and you're just lazily typing it into Naver or Google and want to see a basic overall explanation rather than looking through the search results, this could be a nice feature. But why not just ask the AI directly? Or just accept the AI generated results that the search engines will provide? I'm not sure who the audience is for this but it's here if you want it.

I played around a little with A.X. on Adot in another post if you're curious:
