About

Who am I?

I'm Sam. I've been working in Korea for over 10 years now.

My job isn't glamorous. I don't work at Samsung or live in Gangnam. I work in a medium sized industrial office park on the outskirts of Seoul. My job mostly involves a lot of email, a lot of phone calls, a lot of tracking. I still use Internet Explorer, a lot, for what I need to do.

I'm originally from the Midwest of the USA. How I ended up in Korea is mostly to do with random social connections. But Korea has been good to me so I try to be good to it.

I don't plan on being here forever. But I also don't plan on leaving soon. Maybe another 10 years, or maybe just another year or so. It all depends on a lot of factors.

10원 Tips?

This is a public facing blog I made about Korean tech tips and topics, usually not covered in English elsewhere. It's pronounced "ten won tips" because most of these tips are cheap and cheerful and worth about 10 won.

This blog is just some tips I have found useful or interesting. Some posts are just links to good content. Some posts are simple translations of Korean tech news that I didn't find English version of somewhere else. And some posts are exhaustive explanations about Korean software or other things I'm interested in or I found helpful by trial and error.

I'm not a professional blogger. This is just something I do off and on. If you think the content here is interesting please subscribe. I only do this because I imagine somebody out there is helped by it.

How can I contact you?

I'm usually on Twitter at @10wontips
