Big news for long-term expats: Costco Korea has officially announced that they will switch from Samsung Card to Hyundai Card starting next May.
Previously, Costco customers were required to pay with Samsung Cards (or cash) but following speculation that Costco were considering switching to Hyundai Card, they announced today via their website and an email sent to all customers that from May 24, 2019 you'll need to have a Hyundai Card to shop there.
Here's the English text from the e-mail they sent out:
For now it looks like they only have the info up in Korean but all the key info is right there in the English announcement. The Korean info is here:
Update: Korea Herald has an article in English but no new info there: Costco to end contract with Samsung Card, partner with Hyundai Card
For those who don't have a Hyundai card, it might be worthwhile to sign-up for this Costco-Hyundai co-branded card. I didn't see exactly what benefits this gets you but I'm sure more info will come out. I'll update this post if any officially translated articles about this come out so you don't just have to take my word for it.
