Google Trends shared their top searches in South Korea for the first half of 2019.
Here is the list that made the Top 10 most "trending" search terms (i.e. searches that were particularly popular this year).
Their post also includes the popular TV and movie searches. Really you can just go there and Google translate the page with no problems if you want to see more.

Sadly they've apparently filtered out 단순한 웹사이트 명(navigational query)과 일부 성인 검색어. So in other words they are excluding searches for Naver, YouTube, etc, plus all the juicy adult terms people tend to use Google for. Boy I'd love to take a look at what that list must look like. Eh on second thought maybe not.

Top trending Google searches in South Korea for the 1st half of 2019
- 타노스 - Thanos
Thanos featured in Korean memes this year, along with the popularity of Endgame, and of course people Googling his name to check out that cool Infinity Gauntlet "snap" effect on the search results page. - 미세먼지 - Fine dustI'm surprised this isn't considered an evergreen search term, but the fact that it's listed here sort of shows how much extra attention and extra searching was done due to the early part of this year having the worst recorded levels of the pollution.
- 정준영 - Jung Jun-youngK-pop singer originally minted on Superstar K but overwhelmingly more famous now thanks to this year's breaking of the Burning Sun nightclub drug/rape scandals (#8 on this list)
- 스카이캐슬 (SKY 캐슬) - SKY CastlePopular TV drama about the twisted lives of the ultra-rich and those who work for them. In some way the theme of this drama really anticipated the film Parasite which would come out a few months later. This show had a "killer" beginning.
- NBAGuess the Raptors' win was exciting. No idea. I don't follow basketball at all.
- 극한직업 - Extreme JobComedy/drama police movie about cops who take over a chicken restaurant to spy on the mafia guys across the street, but turns out their cooking skills are amazing. Second most popular Korean movie of all time, behind Roaring Currents (Myeongrang).
- 카트라이더 - Cart RiderThe game that never dies. Got some kind up update and even sponsored teams.
- 버닝썬 - Burning SunName of a club in Seoul and name of the scandal surrounding the club, owned by popular K-pop star but, surprise surprise, lots of drug use, prostitution, and rape, which the owners bragged about on KakaoTalk.
- 황하나 - Hwang HanaAdorable chebol heiress who turns out to have been pretty involved in the Burning Sun mess.
- 어벤져스: 엔드게임 - Avengers Endgame
