Here's another new and free way to open/view Hangul (.hwp) files. Naver's own Chromium based browser "Whale" now has a built-in viewer for .hwp files.
If you already have Whale installed, you can view the files directly within the browser, no plugins or anything else necessary. It can open them directly from the internet, or if you have a local .hwp file, just drag it into a Whale window.
To install the Whale browser (in English or Korean), visit here.
