Naver Now streams Christmas music, free with no mobile data caps

Feeling in the holiday spirit? If not, Naver is here to help. Since the first week of December they've opened one of their Naver Now streaming audio channels that features a 24-hour constant stream of mostly English language Christmas and holiday themed music, on the channel appropriately called 올타임 훼이보릿 캐롤 (All-time Favorite Carols).

This free Christmas music streaming is part of Naver Now, a sort of preview service for Naver's paid streaming music service, Vibe. Naver Now channels stream direct from the Naver homepage, ad-free. Various channels are highlighted at times and from now until Christmas, one channel is devoted exclusively to Christmas and holiday music, both contemporary and classic.

Here's how it looks to stream in your browser. A holiday themed image, current track info, and listener chat room.

The killer feature I'd like to remind you about is that Naver Now streaming channels are completely free and DO NOT count against your data

Let me repeat that: users of KT/SK/LG telecoms in South Korea can stream these channels to your mobile device all day long and it will not count against your data usages. So turn on the music while you're jogging, taking the subway, in your car, whatever, and enjoy the holiday music without worrying about using up all your data and surpassing your limit.

Why listen?

Here's a few of the reasons you might want to take advantage of this:
  • No data caps.
Felt like I'd mention it again. Stream this all day long on mobile data, none of it will count against your plan. I've had it playing through my smartphone to my car's Bluetooth connection all weekend long.
  • English songs.
Because it's Christmas carols, I count at least 90% of the music it plays are classic and contemporary English holiday festive music. Even when Korean artists are featured, they are signing renditions of songs in English.
  • No ads.
Except for very occasional and short promotional messages (no more than one per hour in my experience, and just quick notes on the service itself), I haven't heard a single ad in the last few days of streaming.
  • Mobile or Desktop.
    Stream on both equally easily
  • No log-in.
You don't even need to be logged into Naver to stream. Just visit the link. That's it!
  • No app.
I was streaming this in the background from an iOS Safari tab. Whether desktop or mobile, this doesn't need any apps. Of course it's featured in the Naver app itself, but the website works just as well.

I feel like I can't promote this enough. Just turn it on already. In a world where YouTube demands you try their premium, where Spotify doesn't work at all here without a VPN, where Apple Music costs too much, and where you keep burning through your 20GB mobile data watching low effort mukbang videos, this is a great offering that costs literally nothing to take advantage of.

How to listen

2. Tap the button that reads "Push here to play" as shown below.

3. Enjoy

If you want to comment in the chat room, you need to be logged into Naver.

Final thought

All the things I wrote here are true for all of Naver Now's channels, not just this holiday carols channel. So if K-pop or other genres of Korean music are more to your liking, try one of the other channels. To learn a bit more, see my previous post: Guide to Naver NOW audio contents service
