Nice looking weather out there for Korean Memorial Day (현충일) 2024 today. I'm headed to a pension on the sea later today for some R&R. But before I go let's tribute the fallen heroes the best way I can: by promoting Korean portal website logo doodles honoring today.

These Nate doodles seem to show white Chrysanthemums, i.e. 국화. Apt name. These are often used to memorailize the dead, so basically like those red poppies in European countries.

The white butterflies are meant to be the souls of the departed. Something like that.

If you've got a Korean flag you want to hang out your window to show respect, here's a guide on the right way to fly your Taegukgi. Personally I just drape mine out the window. I'm seeing fewer and fewer as the years go by but I see that same behavior back home too.
Bow your heads at 10am and take a moment to remember those who made this a safe and prosperous place to live.
World Environment Day
As a bonus, yesterday was another special day so here are a few cute logos from today's World Environment Day (세계 환경의 날 ). Unlike most special days when Naver takes the cake, the real standout today is Daum with a cute interactive thing on their search results page.
Here's their standard homepage logo today:

Click it and you get a little rotating globe on the search results, with little character silhouettes that, when you click them, they reveal tips on what you can do to help save the earth (pick up trash, ride a bike, etc).
Meanwhile, here's was Naver's cute doodle:
This one by artist Kim Blue. See more at Instagram @herxblux.
Zum also had a sidebar doodle:

That's all that I could find from Korean websites.
Kind of ironic to celebrate this the day after a 14 billion barrel crude oil reservoir was found out in the East Sea.
Anyway let's look forward to keeping a clean and safe country so that I can kick back a few cans and watch the seagulls and realize that we're pretty lucky overall.
