T-Money location safety service for tracking relatives

Here's a neat idea that could help find missing persons. T-Money and Seoul City Government have teamed up for a new T Money location safety service (티머니 안심 위치 조회 서비스) that you register for if you are the legal guardian of for example a child, an elderly parent with dementia, a family member with mental issues, etc.

This service will track the target's use of their T-money card and can alert you, the guardian, of when and where the card was used to "beep" into a bus or subway and inform you of which bus/subway and where they got on or off. The data is stored for 14 days too so you can verify transit boardings and leavings.

I can see where this could be very useful for finding a dementia parent who wanders off and boards a train to who knows where. Could also be a way to check up on vulnerable relatives to make sure they are getting off at the right stops at the right time routinely.

Of course if this much data is available, it's not hard to imagine a jealous wife checking her husband's transport card history to make sure he's really going to work at not a girlfriend's house or the local screen golf center. That's probably why you have to submit proof of guardianship.

It's a pilot program for now but worth looking into if you fit any of these criteria. Of course tracking their phone is probably better but it wouldn't hurt to have this available too.
