Simple daily weather notification from Naver

There a million different weather apps out there and your phone may come with a good one. But if you don't ever check it regularly it's pretty worthless. And if you live in Korea, you probably already have the Naver app, so why not do a quick sign up for Naver's daily weather forecast alert? I'll be honest, the last thing I needed was yet another push notification to my phone but over time I've started relying 100% on this and barely ever opening any of my weather apps.

It's just an absolute dead simple small push notification Naver will send you in the morning and at night. Just a little "Tomorrow: slightly hotter than today, sunny" that you can take in at a glance and dismiss easily. It's really grown on me and saved me from forgetting an umbrella at home a few times.

Here's how to get it.

Naver weather

Sign up for Naver's daily short weather forecast

There are basically 2 simple parts to this:
  1. List your desired location as a "favorite" in Naver Weather
  2. Click the alert bell for it
That's it.

You can view your Naver weather "favorite" locations here:

https://weather.naver.com/subscribe

Mine looks like this right now:

I have 2 saved (starred) locations. Notice the 1st one has the blue bell active. That one sends me daily forecast alerts. The other with the sad gray bell doesn't. This isn't rocket science.

If you've never done this, your list is probably empty. Either add a new location right there by clicking that big blue star button at the bottom and entering the location like this:

Or just search for "your location weather" on Naver, for example "안산 날씨" and on the resulting weather results page, click the little gray start to add it as a favorite.

That's it. From now on, you'll get simple little notifications like this on your phone. Pardon my current iPhoneness.

Glance at it and ignore it, dismiss it, etc. Dead simple.

Like I said, I never remember to check weather apps and too many give notifications like this that are heavy on details so my brain ends up missing the big picture. I just want to know: will it rain, is it going to be hotter or colder than yesterday, a little or a lot? That's it. This gives it to me.

Try it out.
